The Isle of Man Gold Cat "Crown" coin (sometimes called Manx Crowns) is produced by the Pobjoy Mint in 24carat (999.9 pure) Gold. Launched in 1988, the Gold Cat is now over twenty years old and Pobjoy have produced the Cat coins since then.

As the name suggests, the Cat coins feature different images of cats on the reverse side and the design changes on an annual basis. The reverse of the coin also carries the inscription "AU 1oz" and "CROWN" under the specific cat image for that mint year.

As the Cat is legal tender in the Isle of Man the obverse of the coin features an image of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, ISLE OF MAN and mint year.

Gold Cat coins are available in a range of sizes from 1oz and fractions including 1/10 oz and 1/2 oz. The factional sizes tend not to be as popular as 1oz versions perhaps as they attract higher premiums.
